What happens when challenges arise on site? We find a solution.

What happens when challenges arise on site? We find a solution.

Zenit was appointed recently to install the internal electrical infrastructure on a project ahead of off-site works and on-site mains lay. The client got ahead of their construction programme thanks to hard work and a great summer which accelerated their timeline.

We had previously booked in teams for a later date in line with the original programme, but the speed of construction meant they were not available for the new dates. The plan needed to change and we accommodated that so the client could stay ahead of schedule.

However, this was one of those jobs where not everything went smoothly and we had to think on our feet to solve unexpected challenges.

Finding a solution to keep the job ahead of programme

A new team was brought in and tasked with installing low-smoke overhead cabling and cable trays in a residential building from where the mains enters the building to where the meters are.

Unfortunately, they didn’t perform as promised and it reached a point where we had no choice but to remove the contractor team from the job. The details aren’t important, but the result was the buffer in the programme built up by the client was threatened.

That’s not what clients want to deal with, and in fact choosing Zenit is normally a foolproof way for a client to get complications and stress off their plate.

Solving the problem decisively through direct intervention

Our Managing Director called in a favour and got a different team to site at short notice to replace them. The new team performed as expected and completed the job in just three hours. In other words, they did the job up to Zenit’s required standard and delivered a solution.

The job got finished, we overcame a massive challenge and the client’s project stayed ahead of programme despite the delay.

Swift solutions to utilities infrastructure challenges at short notice

There’s no such thing as a simple utilities infrastructure job, but sometimes complications come from where you least expect them. This was one of those jobs and we had to get creative to find a new solution at short notice.

Ryan Campbell, Managing Director at Zenit, said:

“The most important thing on any job is to find a solution when challenges arise.
“We don’t shy away when complications arise. We’re very hands on and always move fast when plans need to change. The key detail is that the job stayed ahead of programme thanks to our new solution.”
